If You’re Around Dover

Dover is one of the most beautiful places in the UK, and if you’re heading to Dover port, there are definitely some places you should try and visit if you have enough time to.

If history is something that you are interested in, a visit to Dover Caste is a must. With a huge amount of history encased in the mighty castle walls, you’ll learn about the history of England’s defences, including taking a tour of tunnels which were used during World War II for evacuation.

If nature is more your thing, head a little outside Dover and you’ll find Sampshire Hoe; a beautiful nature reserve which was created during the time which the Channel Tunnel was built. There’s a little café and stunning views of the famous white cliffs – we’d definitely recommend a trip on a nice day to really take in the beauty!

Heading to Portsmouth?

Portsmouth is another of the UK’s historic areas which has plenty of things to do. From museums, galleries and churches to huge cinemas, cosy pubs and delicious eateries, there’s plenty of places for your to experience – no matter how long you have to get out and explore!

Take a wander around the historic dockyard and take in the wonderful, nautical history of Portsmouth before setting sail yourself. There’s a fantastic Mary Rose Museum that displays the majestic remains of a 16th Century warship – the only one on display in the world!

The Mary Rose attraction has an average visit time of 2 hours, so it’s a perfect place to visit if you’ve got a few hours to spare!

What About Southampton?

If you’re setting sail from the port of Southampton, you’re in luck if you’re looking for things to do while you wait for your cruise to depart.

The Solent Sky Museum is a must-visit for any aviation fan; filled with a variety of aviation history from the UK and the wider world – and it has that incredible engineering smell that just enhances the experience of any engineering fan who walks in the door! As it’s all based inside, it makes it a great choice for those inevitable rainy days, too!

If you’re looking for a bit more of an exhilarating thrill, why not take to the River Itchen and head to one of the many boating companies which line the banks of the river? Whether it’s a leisurely boat ride or a high-speed powerboat thrill you’re looking for, there’s plenty of places to choose from!

Our service allows you to have some freedom to do what you want to do with your spare time between arriving for your cruise departure and when the cruise leaves.
