Common Christmas Travel Problems

Although we’re still a good month away from Christmas, the festive season doesn’t mean that business stops.

There are always going to be meeting to attend and places to be, requiring the use of some form of transport. While this may not be a problem for some commuters during other times of the year, transport tends to increase in volume over the Christmas season. With the added traffic of festive shoppers taking to the roads, it’s guaranteed that there will be some kind of travel issue that will occur.

 Long Delays

With more traffic using the roads, it is inevitable that you are going to run into some kind of delay on your Christmas travel journey if you don’t plan well enough in advance.

Using satnav technology, it can be possible to navigate alternate routes to help you get to your destination on time, but this is also reliant on other road users not necessarily using the same route as your satnav will take you.

Alternatively, you could set off earlier, giving yourself plenty of time to tackle any delays that you may encounter. If you don’t know the area well enough, you can always rely on a chauffeur service to get you seamlessly from point a to point b.

Weather Issues

It’s not just traffic that can cause delays during the festive season; the weather can play a huge part, too. While it’s impossible to control the weather, it’s always advisable to check the weather predictions of the days that you are looking to travel as conditions such as snow can play havoc with even the best-laid plans.

Even a rainy day sees roads becoming more congested, so if the forecast isn’t looking so great, try and plan your travel around it – be it heading out earlier or rearranging meetings if you really can’t travel due to weather conditions such as ice or snow.

Busy Public Transport

If you’re trying to dodge the roads yourself but still need to travel, it can be extremely tempting to flag down the next bus or jump on the tram or train to your destination.

While this seems like a great idea as it will take a few more cars off the road, you’re running the risk of experiencing an uncomfortable journey, which isn’t ideal when you’re heading to an important meeting or corporate day at work.

Instead, why not book yourself a chauffeur service and relax in the comfort of a stylish car instead? If you’re interested in a stress-free journey this festive season, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us here at Carrus Group today – we’ll be more than happy to help.
